As the first quarter of 2025 wraps up, the Australian Blockchain Association (ABA) is proud to reflect on a dynamic and productive start to the year. From education approvals to high-level policy engagements and industry collaborations, ABA continues to help shape Australia’s blockchain and digital asset landscape.
Here’s a look at what we’ve accomplished from January to March 2025:

National Momentum for Blockchain Education
One of ABA’s core missions is improving access to high-quality blockchain and digital asset education. This quarter, we reached significant milestones:
18 March – Our 11304NAT Certificate III in Crypto Asset and Blockchain Technologies was officially approved in Western Australia, making it eligible towards WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education).
These approvals further our position as a leader in delivering blockchain literacy to the next generation.
Regulatory & Government Engagement
To support responsible innovation and ensure the sector’s voice is heard in policy circles, ABA continued its proactive engagement with government representatives:
2 April
ABA and Vet Skills Australia met with Leigh McCready , the Senior Policy Advisor, Employment and Training at Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, Queensland to discuss the future of blockchain skills development in state education frameworks.
3 April
ABA and Vet Skills Australia met with Steve Whan MP , NSW Minister for Skills, TAFE, and Tertiary Education, to share insights on the emerging demand for blockchain competencies in future job markets.
3 April
Following Labor’s plans to fuel blockchain innovation in Australia if re-elected, ABA reached out to multiple other Australian political parties ahead of the Federal Election to enquire about their policies regarding digital assets.
28 February
We also formally applied for AUSTRAC registration to ensure continued compliance and transparency as our work in digital asset education and advocacy expands inti the ABA Exchange.

Industry Collaboration & Research
To stay at the forefront of industry trends and policy shaping, ABA began an ongoing collaboration with Ernst & Young (EY) to explore emerging issues at the intersection of blockchain and public policy.
This research partnership is focused on key Web3 domains, including:
– Stablecoins and monetary policy
– Exchange regulation
– Blockchain-based wagering and prediction markets
This cross-sector research aims to guide policy development and industry best practices in fast-moving Web3 domains.
