Introduction
The Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Literacy (LLND) Policy was formulated taking cognisance of the Standards for Registered training Organisations (RTOs) 2015, Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) and the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Qld). The purpose of the LLND Policy is to ensure the College identifies prospective learners’ LLND skill levels and provides appropriate support to those who require it.
The College is committed to maintaining a learning environment that supports the individual needs of learners and does not discriminate against any learner or potential learner who identifies as having low LLND skills. The College utilises various methods to assess learners’ LLND skills.

This policy applies to all learners and potential learners of course programs offered by the College.
Overview
The College’s primary purpose is the provision of quality vocational education and training programs to learners.
To specify the conditions under which the College will apply its LLND Policy to screen potential learners, ascertain their individual support needs and plan an appropriate support program.
The College will apply this policy consistently and fairly across all programs and any learner enrolled into a program at the College.
It is the College’s goal to ensure no learner is misled about the course content and/or difficulty level and that learners do not undertake a course in a manner that is not suited to their LLND abilities or skills.
Policy
The College is committed to promoting an environment that is respectful of all learners and potential learners.
The College will:
- Work effectively to ascertain the LLND skills and abilities of potential learners
- Determine the support needs of individual learners and provide access to the educational and support services necessary for the individual learner to meet the requirements of the training product as specified in the training package
- Ensure that learners and potential learners are aware of the LLND requirements of the various courses offered by the College
- Make sure all LLND results are confidentially maintained
- Contribute to an honest, inclusive and non-discriminatory work environment
- Ensure trainer/assessors who identify learners with LLND issues on completion of the LLND assessment understand the correct procedures and support available for the learner
- Make learners aware of the contents of the LLND policy and location on the College’s website
- Foster links with professional organisations for information and referral of learners with LLND needs
