Emerging Role: AI Engineer

AI Engineers build software that can perform various tasks without human involvement. AI Engineers are also responsible for developing, programming and training complex networks of algorithms that function like a human brain. Within the AI Engineer workforce, 12% are female and 88% are aged between 25 and 44 years old. The majority of AI Engineers work  full-time (81%). AI Engineer is a high-skill – high-paying role.

Company AI use increases from 1% in 2022 to 25% in 2024

Business investment in AI and related technology and applications are a critical part of adoption. An analysis of ASX200 company 2024 reports showed that the vast majority of Australia’s largest employers are actively investing in some form of digital technologies, many underlying the use of Gen AI.

27% of Australian workers already using AI

There is increasing evidence that AI adoption has been led by workers in a number of workplaces across Australia. Many employees have reported using Gen AI without the knowledge of their managers. Deloitte Access Economics (2024) found that around 27% were using Gen AI secretly at work.

What you will study

Graduates will enter at an entry-level in AI, working across diverse industries such as business, education, ICT, health, and creative fields.

This course requires successful completion of 14 units.
