Jaie Toohey
To reach the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games
Dreaming Big
Jaie is an energetic and passionate BMX Freestyle athlete that has achieved success at key domestic and international events including 5 X Games medals and being selected to represent Australia at the Olympic Qualifying Series in 2024.
Currently, Jaie is Podium Potential level athlete as identified by coaches and national selectors in the Australian sports system. A resilient athlete, Jaie demonstrates daily that to be successful in sport and life you must embrace mistakes and use them as an opportunity to learn and grow. It is these qualities that have resulted in Jaie being a mentor for many younger pathways athletes that love riding bikes as much as he does.
In preparation for the two Olympic Qualifier Series competitions (Shanghai and Budapest) and X Games Jaie’s training program included gym, conditioning sets, on-bike conditioning, on-bike skill acquisition, pre-habituation, and recovery. Some activities are self-funded and he is reliant on the generous support of donors and contributions from people like you to be able to continue to train and compete at the highest level.

Why we’re participating
Many talented young athletes are denied the opportunity to pursue their dreams of representing Australia because they or their families can’t afford to fund the escalating costs of living, training and competition fees.
After years of investigation, engagement and passion, Nat Cook OAM OLY founded the Aussie Athlete Fund – an innovative model to directly support aspiring elite athletes. Nat’s own experience as a five-time Olympian, and those of her fellow elite athletes, highlight that many selected to represent Australia are hindered by lack of finances. Athletes are expected to win gold medals on less than the minimum wage. Balancing elite training, competitions, recovery, work, study and day to day life often isn’t feasible. Many athletes quit, burn out or both.
